Copyright marks on website images
We, like many, have chosen to mark many of our website
images with a copyright message. These are not on the limited edition and
signature edition prints.
There are several reasons why we have the website images
marked.
- We don't want anyone to print these low resolution
images and present them as representative of our finished work.
- There are proposals at the moment to modify copyright
law, in effect giving some use to orphaned works, those whose true ownership
cannot be traced, we don't want our images included in this. We feel its open
to abuse.
- To make it clear that no one can utilise our images for
other uses without our permission.
There are some ways that you can use these website images
the size they currently are, with our general permission, however we reserve the
right to remove this from any individual or website should we wish.
- We don't mind if you use our images on your website as
long as the message is left, so that people can see that the image is ours and
can come here if they want to find out more. If identifiable people or
property that can be identified are included in any image, you should be very
careful how the images are used, and anything that is said or implied that may
cause offence or the risk of a legal claim.
- We also don't mind you using these images any time that
you want to sell an edition. You should of course not advertise a
limited edition for sale if you don't own it or have guaranteed access to it,
as it may just not be available later.
If you have other needs or intended uses please ask.
Publications should ask for a higher resolution image.
